APC needs sound policies

By Rachel Horner

Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Movement for Democratic Change Party (PMDC) has said that the ruling All Peoples Congress Party (APC) government needs to put sound policies in place to assuage the present adversity in the country.

Mohamed Bangura was responding to the statement made by finance minister David Carew's statement that the recent price increase was a blessing in disguise for Sierra Leoneans.

“The minister's statement is unfortunate and provocative.  His statement means he is out of touch and must apologize to the people of the country.  David Carew should put sound economics polices instead of proactive statements,” he said.

Bangura said Sierra Leoneans do not need food crisis for the government to embark on agriculture but there should be a policy. He said the PMDC knows that the current food crisis is a global problem but the government have the responsibility of positioning sound policies that will cushion the situation.

“The government should embark on mechanize farming and subsidize to farmers so that the country will be self-sufficient,” he said.

Bangura called on the president to own a state farm and that ministers and civil servant would follow suit.

However efforts to get the Sierra Leone Peoples Party to comments prove futile.
