Leone Stars and FC Kallon goalkeeper Christian Coker said he should be blamed for the team 2-0 defeat away to Equatorial Guinean in Malabo on Sunday.
Coker made a terrible mistake in the 47 minute letting the Equatorial Guinean China based defender Ronan shot passed in between his legs.
In a disappointing mood Coker told Concord Sports his mistake was the greatest one in the game which caused the country an undeserving loss.
I was not expecting such thing to happen. I felt it so badly because I was not expecting such to happen with me. I was there to serve my country not to let my country down, Coker said.
He said, I apologized to the entire team and the technical staff and I was happy with the consoling words.
Giving himself words of courage Coker said In football everyone can make mistake, goalkeepers with bigger names in world football have made such mistake and I am not exempted form this. I only hope such mistake will never happen to me again.
However, Coker decided to put the incident and results behind him, adding that he is now focusing on how to defeat Nigerian in Freetown on Saturday.
He said, I am now focusing on how I can put up my best performance and help my teammate to defeat Nigeria , which I believe we can do, he noted.
