Secretary General of the Sierra Leone Red Cross Society (SLRCS) Thursday said his organization would contribute more to the development of the Sierra Leone.
Speaking to a cross section of journalists at the SLRCS's head office on Liverpool Street , Emmanuel H. Tommy said as they celebrate world Red Cross day, they hope to strengthen their supports to the government adding they would try to engage the private sector in their activities in the country.
He said the essence of the celebration is to recognize staff and volunteers of the Red Cross and Red Crescent all over the world for their good work and also to remember the good work of the founder of the organization, Henry Dunant.
“The theme of the celebration is ‘together for humanity'. It is only through building a strong red cross that we can achieve success. We have 186 Red Cross and Red Crescent societies world wide,” he said.
Acting director of programmes, Mohamed Mansaray said the work of the organization have been stretched to the 12 districts in the country adding that, “We deliver our service to the vulnerable communities in Sierra Leone .”
