Fake pastor on the rampage

By Samuel Ben Turay

Reports monitored yesterday indicate that a certain fake Pastor, who is only known as Joko and his accomplice Akim were desperately on the rampage, deceiving innocent people under the name of salvation.

Although both alleged impostors could not be reached by the time we went to press, a source at Congo Cross asserted that “Mr. Joko who claimed to be a pastor is an imposter, fake and a womanizer."

He went further to state that the said Pastor Joko stays in a single room together with his colleague purporting to be a man of God and offering prayers for whosoever he could hoodwink into believing that he has the anointing to do so.

Both Joko and Akim, often seen around Provilack , Congo Cross in Freetown , are claiming to be members of the Solution Church .

A victim of deceit, who preferred to be anonymous, claimed that the duo are demanding money and other material things before offering prayers for men, while women are asked to give their bodies for sex so that they could receive ‘the anointing'.

“These men claim to be servants of God, but money is their utmost goal. The church which is been referred to as church of solution has no solution to our problems,” she said.

Ibrahim Kanu said he was not going to hide his identity while he explained that “Mr. Joko was very vicious and wants money at all cost. He will demand money today and vehicle tomorrow. This man is always in the company of women,” Kanu charged.

Another victim revealed that Mr. Joko was an errand boy at the Temple of Truth Deliverance Ministries but his clandestine activities led to his dismissal from the church.

However, one Pastor Conteh of the Temple of Truth has denied ever knowing Joko as a pastor. “He is unmarried and at the same time the church he claimed be ministering is not a registered one. The so-called pastor has deceived so many people, enriching himself at the detriment of poor and innocent souls,” he said.

The Pastor added: “the search for salvation these days seems to be a curse rather than a blessing. Mr. Joko could be one of those responsible for such an ugly act,” he said.
