CAF, FIFA end Match Commissioners workshop

 

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) in collaboration with World soccer governing body FIFA on April 17 ended a day workshop for Match Commissioners in Cairo , Egypt .

The workshop was conducted for Match Commissioners who will be involved in the joint FIFA 2010 World Cup and Angola 2010 African Cup of Nations qualifiers.

According to CAF, the objective of the one-day workshop jointly organized by the two bodies was to update the officials on the latest innovations and other issues related to match organization before, during and after a game.

Among major topics discussed extensively were safety and security, logistics and marketing.

The CAF General Secretary, Mustapha Fahmy in his opening address expressed satisfaction with the high turnout as he outlined the reasons behind the joint FIFA 2010 World Cup and Angola 2010 Nations Cup qualifiers.

The 3-man FIFA delegation was headed by Gordan Sarvic head of FIFA Competition services. One of the participants, was the Secretary General of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) Alimu Bah who said he was pleased to participate in the workshop

He said he will pass on the information to others in the country, which will guide them whenever they are set to Commission a match.

It is very important for me because I would be playing a double role, first as match Commissioner and secondly as a host National Association. 

About 80 officials attended the workshop, and they will start commissioning, when the first round of the qualifiers starts on May 30 to end on October 10, 2008.
