UK-based midfielder predicts a win for Shooting Stars

Ahead of Saturday's encounter, Shooting Stars and Charlton Athletic midfielder has predicted victory for the U-23 squad.

“I strongly believe Shooting Stars will defeat Senegal by 2-0,” Junior Thompson who is playing in the reserve squad of the English championship clubside said.

“I expect the match to be physical, speedy and competitive as this is African football. I also pray for God's blessing for us to win the match,” Thompson added.

The defensive midfielder who has never played against an African team said he is confident with his style of play and have adapted quickly with his teammates.

Thompson said he was convinced by the pace, good touch and team spirit of his teammates and commented on the coach saying “They are fantastic with a good game plan.”

He maintained that since he started training with the team on Monday, he has discovered that the team has the pace to face any opponent such as the Senegalese.

Thompson joined the championship side six months ago and had gotten two caps for the English outfit. He revealed that the request to play for Sierra Leone came through the minister of education, youth and sports who contacted his cousin.

“I feel honoured to come and play for my country,” the tall midfielder who was born and grew up in England said.
