By Mohamed Massaquoi in Kenema

Veteran journalist now candidate for the position of councilor for the Kenema city council under the ticket of the Peoples Movement for Democratic Change, PMDC has assured residents that his party would carry out a big sweep in the township.
Mustapha Juana said they plan to take over that mantle of leadership from the Sierra Leone Peoples Party, SLPP in the forthcoming local council elections, as they now command majority of the electorates.
He said it is clear that PMDC has made a lot of improvement since its establishment a year ago and that people have noticed that the party was the only way to the development of the township.
“We have a lot of promises from politicians over the past years. We cannot seat aside and watch Kenema degenerate without our intervention. We are faced with lots of problems in this region, but our politicians were not making effort to address them. Illiteracy rate in this part of the country is still on the increase, poor road network, no good health facilities and a host of other problems,” he explained.
The politician said it was about time Sierra Leoneans came together for the development of the district by putting aside political differences.
Juana affirmed that the changes Sierra Leone needs now can only be effected by the PMDC and pointed out that other districts across the country were far ahead of development.
