PReggae stars to celebrate May 11 … Le 1 million raffle draw

Local reggae musicians in the country will storm the National Stadium from May 10 to May 11, 2008 to pay tribute to late reggae gurus like Bob Marley, Lucky Dube, Joseph Hills , Calendar, Dr. Oloh and Amara Kabbah in a jam splash.

The jam is organized to honour the roles legendary reggae stars have played in the emancipation of black people.

The gig, which will be a live band show, will feature Super Combo, Blind School Band and Refugees All Stars who just returned from a world tour.

Sound Boy Richie too, who has disappeared from stage for quite some time, will make use of this opportunity to thrill reggae fans from all walks of society.

Sound Boy Richie is one of Sierra Leonean musicians that have a positive spirit for the society.

To climax the show, a raffle draw will be conducted for those who bought tickets at the gate to qualify and win Le 1 million.

Earlier, the show organizers told Concord Times' Mid Week Entertainment that reggae music is good for the present generation of youths in the country as the songs will console them to forget their woes after years of war and political instability.

“When music touches you, you will feel no pain,” one of the organizers said.

He stated that reggae music is the music of Jah people and it preaches about the odds in the society in order for people to come closer to God.

“Reggae stars are future tellers. Most of what they are preaching is now coming to past.  The messages of these great people still reign today. So we have the right to respect them.”

Entrance fee to the gig is Le 10,000.
