Football Stakeholders holders have frown at statement from the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) in postponing the forth coming elective congress.
According to information from the SLFA, they are considering the postponement of the congress in order not to affect the national team, Leone Stars 2010 Nations/World cup qualifying campaign.
However, this idea does not go down well with some stakeholders as they are requesting that the congress should go ahead with the stipulated time which is May.
Some of the stakeholders who spoke to Concord Sports maintained that the congress in no way will affect the National team preparation.
According to them (stakeholders) both the world governing body, FIFA and African football governing body, CAF have conducted congress in time of major competition but it did not affect the competition.
One of the stakeholder said, “For a long time now we the stakeholders has faced a lot of critisms, it high time we react now for the good of the game.”
However, commenting on their rights as members, the stakeholder stated that the SLFA constitution, art 12 section 1 (a), stated that “to take part in the congress of SLFA, to known its agenda in advance, to be called to the congress within the prescribed time and to exercise their voting right. ”
