National Stadium may host Leone Stars

Leone Stars are likely to play their 2010 African Nations Cup and World Cup qualifying matches at the National Stadium in Freetown .

While inspecting the ongoing construction work at the stadium, Team Manager Ahmed Sesay expressed confidence that the complex would be ready in time for the matches.

“By the look of things, the contractor will deliver on time. We've worked so hard for us to play our matches at home,” he told Concord Sports.

“As you can see they are now painting the dressing rooms as everything is almost completed. Even the iron gate has been fixed.”

Sesay maintained that apart from visiting the site on a regular basis, he usually receives daily briefing from the contractors on work progress.

Commenting on the pitch, Sesay said he is impressed with the work adding that the rainfall has helped greatly in nursing the carpet grass.

Meanwhile, he identified a like setback which is the numbering of the stands.

“The numbering of stands is not in the contract but we are appealing to the stadium management to undertake such a venture,” Sesay said.
