VP receives Nations Cup trophy
The Vice President of the Sierra Leone , Sam Sumana Thursday at the State House received the runners-up trophy from the national amputee team following their success at the just concluded Amputee Nations Cup finals in Liberia .
Addressing players and members of the Sierra Leone Amputee Sports Club (SLASC), the VP Sumana applauded the team for returning home with a trophy.
He said returning with the runners-up trophy implies that his message to the team before their departure to Liberia went well.
“Your success tells me you are not disabled but physically-challenged. I believe you will serve as ambassadors to preach the President's change of attitude message,” he said.
On behalf of SLASC, public relations man, Albert Mustapha aka Wizzy appreciated the team and everyone that supported their Nations Cup campaign in Liberia . He also expressed pride in the team for returning with the trophy saying this should serve as an example for the able-body teams.
He thanked Africell Lintel mobile company for their sponsorship and all those who help in supporting the team to success.
United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) external and communication specialist, Peter Tayong said the amputees have made Sierra Leone proud by returning with a silver.
